Over the years, I've observed people who seem to imagine that a great guru will enlighten them - do the work for them.
It is true that there are Great Ones who can lift disciples up and grant them access into the higher spiritual realms. But this doesn't happen unless the disciple is prepared.
What is preparation?
Swami Rama, in his book Samadhi, The Highest State of Wisdom, said "Preparation means becoming aware of another level of consciousness." It means learning to retain that higher level, and not let it dissipate immediately. It means increasing your capacity.
He said, "When you start to make sincere efforts and start to practice, you will find light on the path. The light itself will guide you."
Are you preparing your mind to experience a higher level of consciousness?
