A central tenet of Yoga is that the true teacher is within. But, due to our noisy mind we don’t sense its presence. So, we find another person who is a teacher, to help us.
The job of this outer teacher is to provide us with the experiences and practices we need so that we find the inner-teacher. It’s not the job of the outer teacher to capture us in a personality cult.
Real teachers will not let you cling onto them, but rather work relentlessly to make you strong and independent.
Beware of teachers who make you dependent upon them and demand adulation.
