There is a natural tendency within human beings to be lazy and wishfully imagine that enlightenment will drop into our laps.
But that's not how it works: practice is required to attain the goal of Yoga.
According to Sutra 14, Chapter 1, in The Yoga Sutra of Patanjali, one must practice for a long time, without a break, and with sincere devotion for the practice to become firmly rooted. Once firmly rooted, the practice must continue until the goal is reached.
So, let's not deceive ourselves into thinking that enlightenment is going to come just by itself. We have to do our work.
