It's all too easy to fill our minds with worry and carry these harmful thoughts through our days. When we do this, our life looses it's luster and become drudgery.
Rather than ruining the moments of our lives in this way, there is a way to let go of the worries and return joy to our lives. Here's a method to do so: There is a powerful practice that is given in chapter 2, sutra 33, of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, called pratipaksha-bhavanam.
Pratipaksha-Bhavanam involves replacing a negative, harmful thought, with a positive one. So when we find our thoughts dwelling on our worries, we can turn our attention to a positive thought instead. One way to do this would be to count our blessings at that moment, that is, to place our attention on what we are grateful for. It's not difficult to do so, especially if you practice counting your blessings regularly. Then, when the need arises, you'll know how to do it.
